The most endearing quality of the documentary was the honesty of all participants but I most appreciated all the new facts surrounding the holocaust that I learned. The trauma acquired by such events is enormous. When will people realize that expiry effects us for generations and in fact changes the class of the development of civilization/humanity. Without bells and whistles this documentary was highly effective.

Rather anticlimatic

Verified purchase

The main character didn't go into depth on her life, perhaps because the memories were too painful. Her sister did provide of import, personal information that provided a glimpse into that family unit's personal life. That bratty ten-year-old child was super annoying; it was quite shocking to see him dancing on graves in that Viennese cemetery.

cocky-indulgent, not very coherent

At that place are many families that have a history that traces back to the holocaust, many of which are more than interesting than this 1. Plus, the story was not put together well, hard to keep track of who is who dorsum then. And the people in Vienna with whom they speak are clear enough, only again, hard to pull all the pieces together. I am sure this was cathartic for the moving-picture show-maker just not so much for the remainder of united states.

I am confused as to why anyone would describe this documentary as "funny." It was touching, gripping and at times heartbreaking only nix was funny. It is a very personal story and I thank the family unit for sharing it.

The boy is a TEN year old male child, too young to capeesh this trip. He was non ready emotionally. Nonetheless, I thought some of the comments by other reviewers were pretty harsh. He's a kid. I promise he makes a return trip when he is older. I do think that the story must be told and shared downwards through the generations so that we tin ensure that information technology never happens over again.

Adept story that took united states of america along with them to follow the history of the family. The 10 year old male child was OK - I approximate typical of a young boy with no interest in family unit history and having fun with the filming - just similar nigh kids today. The ending that listed what happened to the people in the film was the most fascinating - would have liked more info on why the German man was no longer in the library and why the info is no longer accessible. Truly sad to run across what our own people did to our own people.

Revisiting the Holocaust

Verified purchase

Its the story of a Jewish family retracing the days of the holocaust by returning to Republic of austria, where they escaped the Nazis through dandy hardship.
The presentation was ruined past the inclusion of their immature teen son/grandson, which the blurb describes equally "funny". He is rude and disrespectful and
spoiled rotten. I don't call up it is tolerable to go romping over grave stones in a Jewish cemetery, being disrespectful by and large to the Austrian people and culture and acting the fool, all the while being filmed doing and then. Linda Mills' son could benefit from a visit to Regular army boot military camp! It shows how piddling sense the parents have in not stopping him. As information technology progresses, y'all really wish this kid had been eliminated from the film. Then doing might have raised the rating past an extra star. Linda Mill's family deserve more respect because their experiences and losses, non merely in material appurtenances simply through human being tragedy. Information technology is
worth seeing once equally an historical document. The Holocaust tin can hardly be classed equally entertainment.

a wee bit tedious

I'thousand certain it was very important to this family to travel to Vinenna and research documents regarding their family unit, but information technology was hard to follow.
